Stuart Batty Woodturning School

Putting the Tool to the Wood

At the Stuart Batty School for Woodturning, students can attend classes taught by world-class instructors utilizing today’s most cutting-edge techniques, working in a state of the art classroom.  Stuart Batty has developed this uniquely effective classroom experience from decades of teaching experience around the world. Rather than creating a perfectly finished project, students are encouraged to perfect their techniques.  This approach allows students to gain a truly in-depth understanding of the fundamentals of woodturning, enabling them to create any work on the lathe.

Instructors will teach in a consistent style, allowing students to build on their understanding. Instructors will utilize the most effective methods of teaching, always beginning from Stuart Batty’s Seven Principles of the Perfect Cut. Classes are energetic, rotating between brief demonstrations and periods of working time, focusing on problem solving and skills. A generous ratio of instructors to students ensures one-on-one attention.

The classroom is equipped with only the best modern full-sized lathes, large monitors for up-close views of demonstrations, one grinder for every two students, and the full line of Stuart Batty Tools. It is located in beautiful Boulder, Colorado at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

Each student will receive detailed written materials to support the class experience and eliminate the need for note-taking in the classroom.  At the Stuart Batty School for Woodturning, complete focus is on an enjoyable learning experience, honing skills, and passing on the Art of Woodturning.

Here, students receive expert instruction in order to master the perfect cut – greater precision with less physical effort and, ultimately, a more enjoyable turning experience.

The Stuart Batty Woodturning School will be open for class soon – for more updates, please see our blog and sign up for our newsletter.
